Mimi Youn

Mimi Youn is a South Korean artist who graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, with a M.F.A. in fine art in 2008. She was awarded the Lens Culture/Rhubarb Photo Book Award for Mememimi in 2008 and an artist residency at Cité internationale des arts in Paris in 2009. She has exhibited her work both in the United States and throughout Europe. Ms. Youn uses Polaroids to create autobiographical narratives. By etching words and designs into the emulsion, she is able to document her emotions and experiences as instantaneously as the developing film itself.

Tema Stauffer

Tema Stauffer is a Brooklyn-based photographer, writer, and curator for Culturehall, an online contemporary art resource.  Her work has been exhibited at Jen Bekman Gallery and Daniel Cooney Fine Art in New York, among other national and international venues.  She currently teaches at the School of the International Center of Photography in New York and at Ramapo College in New Jersey; she also co-taught a photography workshop at Tóxico Cultura in México City.  She writes a blog about photography, PalmAire, and contributes to Mana Log of the Mana Art Center.  In 2010, she was awarded an AOL 25 for 25 Grant for innovation in the arts. She graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio in 1995 and received her M.F.A. in photography from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998.

Heidi Bradner

Widely admired for her photographs taken during the Chechen War and on the steppes of northern Russia, Heidi Bradner was awarded the Leica Medal of Excellence, an Alexia Foundation grant, and a grant from the Mother Jones International Fund for Documentary Photography. Her work is exhibited and published internationally. Her series Land of the Second Sun, focusing on the Yamal Peninsula in Siberia, was selected for exhibition at the FotoFest 2006 Biennial and the 2009 Guangzhou Photo Biennial in China. She is represented by Eric Franck Fine Art in London. Born in Alaska, she worked in Russia for a decade.

Augusta Wood

Augusta Wood is a Los Angeles-based artist whose work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Angles Gallery and at Cherry and Martin, both located in Los Angeles. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at Anton Kern Gallery, New York; Torrance Art Museum, California; and China Art Objects Galleries, Los Angeles, among others. She was included in the FotoFest 2010 Biennial exhibition Assembly, curated by the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her work has been covered in Modern Painters, The Los Angeles Times, Art Lies Contemporary Art Quarterly, and The Huffington Post. Originally from the greater Boston area, she earned her B.F.A. from Cooper Union in New York in 2000 and her M.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts in Santa Clarita, California, in 2005. She is represented by Angles Gallery in Los Angeles.

Štěpán Grygar

Štěpán Grygar is a leading contemporary photographer from the Czech Republic. He has had numerous solo exhibitions in Europe and has exhibited widely in group exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia. His work is represented in many museum collections, including those of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; and Art Institute of Chicago. He teaches at the Filmová a televizní fakulta, Akademie múzických umění v Praze, a well-known film and photography school in Prague.

Monica Cheon Kyong Ae

Monica Cheon has published three monographs of her work: Thirsty Land (Paju, Korea: Youlhwadang, 2005), Humus (Seoul: Beebong, 2009), and Mask, Unmask (Seoul: Beebong, 2010).  Her work was included in the exhibition Chaotic Harmony at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in 2009 and at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, California, in 2010.  Her project Mask, Unmask was the opening exhibition for the Andong Art & Culture Centre, South Korea, in 2010. Her work is represented in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and collections throughout South Korea, including those at the Seoul Central District Court, Korea Exchange Bank, Order of St. Benedict Waegwan Abbey, and Andong Art & Culture Centre.  She received her B.A. in English literature from Keimyung University in Korea before studying photography. She has traveled extensively throughout Korea, China, Mongolia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and Alaska in pursuit of her landscape subjects.
